2012: A Year of Epiphanies

Take a positive step to dispel the doom-and-gloom surrounding this new year of 2012, whether that foggy murk be exaggerated Mayan calendar apocalypticism or the newer fears of a Eurozone economic blizzard. Recall instead the most transformative day you've ever had, your Day of Epiphany. Put a remembrance of that day by your 2012 calendar, as a reminder of how meaningful and transformative life can be.

This, too, is the year of Facebook Timeline, as actuality and not mere promise, bringing a renewed focus on the progression of events across a span of years and decades. A tangible object, perhaps made into a crafts piece, with a QR code at its side linked to your Timeline or website, becomes a bridge between the physical and the cyber, a great conversation piece for any gathering.

If you don't have a physical remembrance piece at the ready, I hope you'll consider swapping for something from me, a genuine relic of the world's mail stream as it was on the very day of your epiphany. Stamps, and especially the dates of their postmarks, have for many years been a fascination of mine, and for the last decade and a half, my sorting and organizing them by the tens of thousands has been my meditation and means of attaining calm and reflection in the midst of daily life.

Many of your friends and neighbors have an accumulation of stamps from the mails that were simply too pretty or too interesting to just throw away. Ask around and locate one of those accumulations, and I'll swap for it, perhaps after you arrange a three-way trade with something like a small crafts piece exchanged from you to your neighbor. Just let me know the epiphany date you want me to send, and attach with your email a jpeg of the accumulation you want to trade, typically a good handful something in the range of an ounce. Once the trade is on, my date item starts on its way to you and your accumulation on its way to me, and perhaps they cross in their traverse of the mails.

So, to resonate harmoniously in a key of epiphany with the best possiblities for 2012, email me at  pi53365@yahoo.com
