Square Root Day is being celebrated on March 3, 2009. It got its start on 9-9-81 when Ron Gordon, a high school teacher in Redwood City, Calif. noticed the numerical properties of the date. For 2-2-04 even the groundhog in Punxsutawney, Penn. got involved, nibbling on a treat of square-carved roots provided Overnight Express by Mr. Gordon. |

Born in Germany on Feb. 16, 1948 and profiled earlier this week on Nightline, Eckhart Tolle experienced an epiphany shortly after his 29th birthday which laid the foundation for his philosophical teachings featured last year on Oprah. |

On April 11, 1970 Apollo XIII launched at 13:13 hrs Houston Mission Control time from Cape Canaveral's Complex 39 (13 times 3), and then suffered its oxygen tank explosion on the 13th. Despite all this, the three astronauts all made it home alive, splashing down in the Pacific the next Friday. So don't fret that in a few weeks it will again be Friday the 13th!. |
